A new vest from AUBERGE. It uses rare, undyed natural champagne gold mohair from South Africa, spun using a unique method. Because the color is natural and derived from the raw wool, there are slight variations in shade between lots, creating a natural color fluctuation that cannot be achieved through dyeing. With a fineness of 34/36μ, it features a unique texture with the firmness and strong resilience characteristic of thick-count yarns.

Inspired by the native rugs used in Chimayo vests, the warp uses undyed thick-count linen yarn. The weft uses a six-ply yarn of the aforementioned mohair. By inserting undyed wool yarn between these, the fabric achieves physical stability and a sense of density. While the actual weight is quite heavy, its unique texture and firmness make it feel lighter than it looks, resulting in an indescribable, one-of-a-kind finish.

Vintage Ortega vests often have narrow shoulders and short lengths, which can lead to an outdated fit. We have created our own modern version of the Ortega vest, designed for versatile layering. We widened the shoulders and finished them with a slope that conforms softly to the shoulder line. The armholes are also slightly wider, designed to accommodate various layering styles.
