New short jacket from AUBERGE. It uses rare, undyed natural champagne gold mohair sourced from South Africa, spun using a unique method. Because the color is natural, there are slight variations in shade between lots, creating a natural color fluctuation that cannot be achieved through dyeing. With a fineness of 34/36μ, the fabric has a unique texture with the firmness and strong resilience characteristic of thick yarns.
Inspired by the native rugs used for Chimayo vests, the warp is made of undyed thick linen yarn. The weft uses a 6-ply yarn of the aforementioned mohair. By inserting undyed wool yarn between these, the fabric achieves physical stability and density. Although the actual weight is quite heavy, the unique texture and firmness make it feel lighter than it is, resulting in an indescribable, one-of-a-kind feel.
The silhouette is an Ortega-feel jacket designed with a modern size balance rather than following the original. Key features include dropped shoulders and a sleeve head that is not too high. Some pockets incorporate details from UK workwear.
AUBERGE is named after the 18th-century French inns that offered both fine dining and lodging. Their style is based on 1930s-40s vintage, creating items that are everyday, yet neither too old nor too new. They express luxury through carefully selected textiles and meticulous sewing, valuing the handmade atmosphere above all else.
