WORKERS Lot801 straight denim, made in Japan. This is authentic denim created by WORKERS, using denim fabric made from US upland cotton. Upland cotton is an extremely basic cotton with a fiber length of about 27.8-28.6 mm. While agricultural products vary depending on their environment despite selective breeding, US upland cotton was chosen this time to master the ultimate basic.

Imported to Japan, the slub yarn shape seen in vintage jeans is scanned to determine the yarn shape, controlled to avoid excessive unevenness. The finished yarn is rope-dyed with pure indigo, with no bottom or after-dyeing. The color characteristic this time is relatively less red and more blue. Furthermore, the fabric is woven on a shuttle loom with selvage. Weaving at a low tension creates a fluffy texture that preserves the inherent character of the yarn and cotton. The finished fabric is raw kibata denim that undergoes no anti-shrinkage treatment or singeing, meaning it shrinks and twists when washed. It is washed and tumble-dried before delivery to minimize shrinkage.

Available in two patterns: straight and slim tapered. This is the straight version. The hem width remains the same for about 10 cm from the bottom, so altering the length up to about 30 inches does not change the hem width. All sewing is done with cotton thread. Heavy-count threads are used for the side seams, the crotch seam (commonly called 'komata'), the yoke, and the waistband. While specified for strength using cotton thread, this results in bumpy puckering along the selvage and strong puckering on the yoke.

In making denim from scratch this time, the goal was to be 'basic'. Rather than mixing non-US cottons like Peruvian or Indian cotton, or using base dyeing to create a different taste from pure indigo, they strictly stuck to US cotton and pure indigo, resulting in a strong blue shade just as imagined.
