TENDER Co. 136 OXFORD JEANS (LOT136-RINSE) MADE IN UK. The 136 is the widest denim model in the TENDER Co. lineup, based on the Oxford Bags that became famous at Oxford University in the 1920s. It is said that students wore these wide wool trousers over their shorts on cold mornings. The original design featured a 23-inch (approx. 30cm) hem width, allowing them to be put on and taken off while wearing shorts and shoes. TENDER Co. has adapted this ultra-wide silhouette using their signature denim details and materials.
The jeans are packed with TENDER Co.'s original craftsmanship. The front pockets are sewn with triple-needle stitching, and the pocket bags are made of denim rather than cotton twill. The coin pocket above the right pocket is inspired by the anecdote that British aristocrats used to hook their thumbs into it. The back pockets are square and reinforced with rivets. The yoke is sewn to overlap the pockets, calculated to provide a three-dimensional fit that prevents the back from pulling. The belt loops vary in length and placement, designed to accommodate body movement. The hem is a double hem, set slightly longer to be worn with two folds, inspired by the story of cowboys using the folded hem as an ashtray.
This is the RINSE model, which has been washed. Made from 16oz heavy-duty denim, it shrinks to approximately 17oz after washing, offering a supple feel despite its thickness.
TENDER Co. clothing is rooted in antique workwear and machinery, particularly from the British steam locomotive era. Just like the tender—the carriage that carries coal and water for a locomotive—these garments are designed to be incredibly durable and meant to be worn hard. The brand incorporates the strength and history of these machines into every piece, with the hope that wearers will respect the stories embedded within the clothing.
