Denim jackets are items where the level of craftsmanship really makes a difference.
Hello.
This is Nishiyama from andPheb.
We have had a non-stop rush of new arrivals lately, but since an item I really want to talk about has arrived, I am doing an item pickup blog.
Among the many items from INTERIM that make you think, "Do they really go this far?", the one I feel the most passion for is the "213 No.2 DENIM JACKET" that I am introducing today.
It is popular among denim enthusiasts, but generally speaking, the No.2 denim is a niche existence.
Simply put, it is a model that corresponds to the budget version of that time, said to have been produced from 1890 to the early 1940s. The fabric is a bit thinner, and the details are different. Many people might have a negative image when they hear "budget version," but it is a rare model with very few existing pieces and high popularity in that circle. Of course, the price is also high...
INTERIM has been particular about every detail of such a denim jacket. From the fabric and accessories to the sewing. This time, I would like to dig into this No.2 DENIM JACKET by focusing on the strength of INTERIM's commitment.

INTERIM
NATURAL INDIGO SHUTTLE DENIM SINGLE NEEDLE 213 No2 DENIM JACKET
(IT26A041)
¥48,400 including tax
177cm / Wearing size 5.
Available in two types with the same details.
A regular model that reproduces the vintage size feel, and a hyper-big model finished in an oversized fit that works well as outerwear.
First, I will introduce the regular model.

Point 1 is the fabric.
What is used this time is "13.5oz natural indigo-dyed white-ear selvedge denim" produced at a long-established domestic loom.
Many people might imagine a pale, soft blue when they hear natural indigo denim, but this is a very deep navy. It uses only natural indigo and achieves this depth by dyeing it 10 times.
It is a rare and expensive denim because it is very time-consuming... By repeating wearing and washing from here, you can enjoy the beautiful blue hue unique to natural indigo and beautiful vertical fading.
It is not a denim that is completed from the start, but a fabric that you can enjoy growing over time.

Point 2 is the details and accessories that are particular down to the smallest parts.
There is too much to talk about, so I will list them in bullet points first so the explanation doesn't get scattered.
- Selvedge used up to the collar and hem.
- Iron bullseye buttons
- Iron needle cinch back
- Copper rivets
- Down pockets
- Rainbow stitching
- Linen patch
I wrote them down, but that's a lot (laughs). Let's introduce them one by one while looking at the photos.

- Selvedge used up to the collar and hem.
Thorough reproduction of No.2 denim details. Selvedge denim has become harder to get recently, but this is a careful specification that uses it not only on the back of the front placket but also on the back of the collar and the hem. Also, because of that, the collar is slightly square-shaped, which is a feature.
Although No.2 denim was treated as a budget version at the time, looking at it this way, you can see that it was a careful construction.

- Iron bullseye buttons
Following the vintage, they adopted bullseye buttons characterized by bumpy details. And they are firmly made of iron.
Due to the one-wash, there is already a little rust. It is luxurious to be able to enjoy even the aging of the buttons as you wear it in...

- Iron needle cinch back
The cinch back is, of course, iron. It is a proper needle cinch. Just like back then, please pierce and fasten it.
Furthermore, it has a black lacquer finish, which has peeled off a little due to washing. The fine texture around here is also the best.

- Copper rivets
- Down pockets
- Rainbow stitching
The rivets are made of copper.
The down pocket is a characteristic detail of No.2 denim. It is iconic that the pocket is attached slightly lower than usual.
Also, the stitching is rainbow stitching with different colors depending on the location. Basically, it is mainly yellow stitching, but there is also orange here and there. It is surprising that they analyzed the vintage and placed the colors accordingly.

- Linen patch
The last one is the linen patch. It seems that linen patches were adopted at the time to differentiate from leather patches, and as you wash it, distortion occurs, and it grows into a face like a vintage one.
Personally, I am looking forward to seeing how the natural indigo transfers to the linen patch.

And Point 3 is the sewing.
This is a point that personally hits home.
It is tailored with lock stitching (not chain stitching), which is quite inefficient for modern mass-produced products.
I am surprised by the careful construction of that time, but INTERIM, which reproduces it, is also tremendous...
There are many places that reproduce fabric, fading, and details that are easy to understand at a glance, but I think it is rare to faithfully reproduce even the sewing, which is difficult to notice.
The biggest surprise is that it is in the 40,000 yen range after doing all this.... (laughs)
Now, let me introduce the hyper-big model.
The regular model was a just-fit that could also be used as an inner layer, but the hyper-big model is an oversized fit intended for use as outerwear!
It has a roomy size feel that allows you to wear thick sweatshirts or sweaters underneath.
It is a stylish balance that is almost like a coverall.
If you want to dress stylishly, this is the one.

177cm / Wearing size HB5.

By dropping the shoulders and wearing it loosely, it creates a modern styling not found in vintage.
It also goes well with voluminous styles, such as combinations with wide pants, which are common at andPheb.
It also looks cool to layer a driver's knit underneath.

Two models to choose from based on your preference.
Although they are the same item, they create completely different vibes.
INTERIM's 213 No.2 Denim Jacket.
How did you find this in-depth introduction?
Looking at it in such detail, you realize that it is truly packed with attention to detail in so many places.
Looking cool at a glance and having a good appearance is a prerequisite.
From there, it is about craftsmanship that shows respect and commitment to vintage.
And the incredible pricing.
This is why I think INTERIM is truly wonderful.
For those looking for a denim jacket, and even for those who are not,
this is the 213 No.2 Denim Jacket I would recommend first.
