ULTERIOR is a brand that centers its identity on traditional Japanese aesthetics, expressing the beauty of 'negative space' and 'imbalance (imperfection)' through the essential charm of materials, while strictly limiting the materials used.
By collaborating with weavers across Japan, they develop unique materials to express the deep worldview the brand aims for through textiles. The designs are inspired by workwear and military wear from various countries and eras, exploring the essential beauty of utility in each item and adding a contemporary touch based on the designer's aesthetic sense.

Referencing a traditional, classic riding coat, we have arranged the length to be easier to handle while retaining the impressive details like the long vent on the back and the large front placket, resulting in a modern and clean balance. Calf leather is used for the collar to add a sense of luxury.
A double-woven light melton made from super130’s worsted wool. It features lightness and thinness due to the worsted material. The fulling process, which focuses on texture, results in a smooth touch and a high-quality feel. Wool etamine is used for the body lining, considering heat retention.
